The Eötvös Student Chapter in SEG will organize a workshop on subsidence history and basin modeling for geology and geophysics students on 11-14 April 2022, entitled "Simulation of hydrocarbon systems". Our guest lecturer was Attila Bartha, the Principal Petroleum System Geologist at Schlumberger Technology Center in Aachen, Germany. During the four-day short course, the participants were introduced to the theoretical background of hydrocarbon systems and their modeling and heard a lecture on data management and reliability by Viktor Lemberkovics. Over the days, the students used the PetroMod software to build both a one-dimensional and a two-dimensional model on a training data system from the North Sea and performed pore pressure calibration on a three-dimensional model. A total of 13 students, both geophysicists, and geologists, from BSc. to PhD. level participated in the workshop. The Chapter provided lunch for all participants, which was shared in the kitchen in a very good atmosphere and provided an opportunity to get to know both the presenter and the students better. Attila even gifted the students with original Aachen chocolate. The students who successfully completed the short course were awarded a certificate by the Chapter.
