At the Young Professional Meeting, two recent graduates, Tiva Szabó and Balázs Takács talked about their professional life after university and where they are now.
Balázs Takács is a geophysicist employed by MÁV (Hungarian State Railways) Central Rail and Track Inspection Ltd. During his presentation he described the field experience he gained during his university years, which proved useful in his current work. He described how he got the job and how he spent the time between graduating and starting work. The students were also given an insight into the company's equipment and why a transportation company needs a geophysicist.
Tiva Szabó works for Geomega Ltd. as a geophysicist. During his presentation, the audience could get an insight into the daily life of a mostly field geophysicist, his responsibilities, as well as the difficulties he faces in fieldwork.
After both presentations, the students had the opportunity to ask questions, to which the presenters readily responded.
The event was unusual because it was the first online session of this event series, but despite this, there were a good number of interested students present.
