Workshop - Mountain formation

We have devoted this workshop to structures, processes, and questions. The topic was presented by György Hetényi, former student of ELTE, present professor of ETH Zürich.

At the beginning of the presentation, we could hear about the newest theories of mountain formation. It was followed by a longer block when the detailed structure of the Himalayas was presented. After that, we could hear about the structure of the Alps and see some similarities in the process of the formation of these two mountains. Before the question session, when everyone could tell his personal opinion on the topic, the newest international investigation was presented to us. It was a very interesting event for both professors and students of our University.
