Visiting the MFGI
03.20.2014
On March 20, 2014, our student chapter visited the headquarter of the Geological and Geophysical Institute of Hungary (MFGI). We were mainly interested in the survey equipment of the Institute, but at first, a brief introduction was also held to the history of the Institute, its departments, and their focus areas.
Afterward, our hosts kindly showed us the following equipment: engineering geophysical seismic survey equipment, including S-wave recording geophones; multielectrode DC geoelectric instruments; seismological sensors, including the one developed by the Institute and last but not least we could also experience how a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey takes place. It was certainly popular, as many of us could see and use a GPR for the first time.
